The Time - Poem

The Time

If time could stop when you hold me near,

I'd silence each clock until none could hear,

No yesterday calling, no tomorrow in sight,

Just you in my arms and this moment tonight.

For time becomes strange whenever you're there,

An hour is a second, a breath is a year,

One look can remain when decades are gone,

Like stars that still shine after their light has moved on.

Perhaps we have met in another lifetime,

Two souls finding ways through the borders of time,

Perhaps that's the reason your eyes feel like home,

As if somewhere before, they had looked into my own.

And if time should someday take you from me,

I'll search every moment where memories still breathe,

For clocks may surrender and lifetimes depart—

But time cannot measure your place in my heart.
